Mining 2012: We’re hiring

For many, Nevada’s economic recovery has been frustratingly slow.  This story in the Review-Journal points out that while unemployment is slowly dropping statewide, we are still well above national levels.  Economists have said Nevada, with its reliance on construction and tourists’ flexible income, will be slow to recover.  But explanations like this don’t make it any easier if you’re sitting at your computer, sending off your 12th resume of the day.

But maybe this will: the Mining Industry in Nevada is growing, and we’re hiring.  (more…)

Dear Editor,
In response to Bob Fulkerson’s op-ed in the Reno Gazette-Journal entitled “Weakening government oversight results in workers being hurt, not hired”, Mr. Fulkerson doesn’t let factual inaccuracies contaminate the story he wants to spin in regard to mine permitting and Governor Sandoval’s request to speed the Federal permitting processes in Nevada.

Mining For Nevada’s Future: A Few Thoughts To Start 2012

This is my first time working directly for a professional association, but I’ve had experience with them for years. As a lobbyist, I’ve always dealt the role of advocating an agenda or building a coalition around a certain issue. Lately, I’ve learned that members of the Mining Association, like many professional associations, expect the Association to inform the public about the good work that their members do.
