I have been an employment attorney with Jackson Kelly who has been practicing in this area for 18 years.  Mark is a 23 year veteran police officer in Colorado.  He started LEAD Impairment Training in 2007 and has trained over 30,000 people on the danger of impaired driving and drugs.

What are the key highlights of the presentation?

Because employers have an obligation under the law to provide a safe workplace for their employees, recognizing and responding to warning signs is an important part of any comprehensive workplace violence program.  Attendees will learn to recognize the signs of violence ahead of time, and be given steps to take to address the warning signs.  Real-life examples are provided.

What are some potential warning signs employers can be on the lookout for?

A change in behavior patterns or an increase in the frequency and intensity of behaviors that are disruptive to the work environment.

What steps can a company take to reduce the risk of workplace violence?

Intervene when warning signs are exhibited; have a program tailored to their work site that provides multiple avenues for reporting; train employees to recognize warning signs and make reports; foster a culture of encourages people to speak up.
