5 Things to Know Before You Go: One Week to the NVMA Convention

The NVMA Convention is officially one week away! What do you need to know before you go? Check out these quick notes that will get you ready for your trip to Tahoe.

5 Things to Know Before You Go: One Week to the NVMA Convention - Nevada Mining Association - 11) Download the Convention App:

The NVMA is utilizing our convention app again this year.  To download:

  • From your phone’s app store, search “NVMA Events” and download.
  • Open app and enter “2023 Nevada Mining Association Convention” in search bar when prompted. Tap event once it appears on screen.
  • Enter first name, last name, and email when prompted.
  • Check email or text messages for verification code and enter the code in the app.
  • Explore the app to view your agenda and connect with fellow attendees.
 
2) Setup Your Profile

The app makes it easier than ever to connect with your fellow NVMA Convention attendees. But first, you’ll need to set up your profile page:

  • On the app, select “Profile” on the bottom of the screen.
  • Select your name to update your information and set your profile to public so other convention attendees can contact you.
  • You can also view a list of other convention attendees and message them through the app.
3) NVMA Gives Back Workday Details:

We look forward to working together with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association to help demonstrate our strong commitment to environmental sustainability.

Event hats will be available in the Harrah’s lobby on Friday, September 8th from 7:30am-8:00am.  Thank you, Argonaut Gold!

Please wear or bring the following items:

  • Water – At least two liters, but you may want to bring more depending on the weather. Water is not available at the trailhead.
  • Snacks
  • Long Sleeved Shirt
  • Long Pants
  • Work gloves (The TRTA will have gloves to borrow if needed)
  • Substantial closed-toe shoes (hiking or work boots preferred)
  • Hard hat (The TRTA will have limited hard hats to borrow if needed)
  • Sunscreen
  • Eye Protection (sunglasses work)
  • Daypack
  •  

IMPORTANT NOTES: Any volunteers not wearing a long-sleeved shirt and long pants will not be allowed to participate.  Buses depart Harrah’s Valet promptly at 8:00 AM.

4) Tahoe Excursions Update: 

If you are participating in any of Friday’s Tahoe excursions, please bring the following:

  • Hat
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle

If you are on a fishing excursion, please bring your California OR Nevada fishing license, if you have not requested that we purchase one for you.

5) Dress Code:

General Conference Dress Code:

Conference attire is business casual for all meetings and sessions. This means khakis, dress pants, sports coat, suit (tie optional), dress jeans with a blazer, button-down long sleeve shirts, and dresses. All meetings are indoors so you don’t have to worry about outside temperatures. Conference Ballrooms tend to be chilly so please bring a blazer or sweater.

Evening Events:

Keep in mind that there will be opportunities to enjoy the beautiful lake-front scenery. Please bring a blazer or sweater as nights in Lake Tahoe can be chilly.

  • Wednesday Evening Welcome Reception at Harrah’s Tahoe ABCD: Business Casual
  • Thursday Evening Suppliers Reception at Riva Grill: Business Casual
  • Friday Evening Celebration of Excellence, Featuring the Safety & Reclamation Awards at the Tahoe Blue Center: Cocktail/Evening attire. Suit or blazer, dress pants and a tie, pants suit, or cocktail dress. This will be an indoor event. Event Center event venues tend to be chilly so please bring a blazer or sweater.
