Early this month supporters of Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation (NNCCF) had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. and  meet Representative Joe Heck (R-NV) courtesy of Barrick Gold Corporation.  Barrick sponsored the trip from Nevada to Washington for the advocates of NNCCF.  The sponsorship is part of a larger commitment Barrick has made to the Foundation, which includes financial contributions and voluntary support at the organization’s annual Paddle for Pediatric Cancer event. They traveled from their home state of Nevada to petition the government to increase funding for pediatric cancer research.

NNCCF is the only organization dedicated solely to supporting children with cancer and their families in Northern Nevada and the eastern Sierra region.  NNCCF is a comprehensive resource organization providing financial and emotional assistance, advocacy, awareness and research funds.

“It was wonderful to see passionate people take action on a cause close to their heart,” Michael Brown,  Barrick Gold Corporation’s vice president of public affairs in the United States said. “We are proud to be a part of it.”

Barrick Gold Corporation is a Toronto-based gold mining company and industry leader, with a portfolio of 25 operating mines, and projects on five continents.
