Contech Engineered Services

For more than 100 years, Contech Engineered Services has facilitated design, development and construction solutions for industries such as, recreation, military, agriculture, rehabilitation, mining and more.

The company’s extensive research background and practical experience allows Contech to provide mine sites with diverse solutions to assist with or complete mining projects. Over the years, Contech has successfully assisted mine sites with the development and completion of haul roads, stream crossings, prefabricated bridges, road or rail tunnels, mine portals, drainage and pipe options, storm water treatment solutions, spillways, erosion control, retaining walls options and more.

  • Channels and Spillways

Contech designs and constructs diversion channels that direct or redirect flowing water. For example, a copper mine in Arizona needed to create a diversion channel for a large stream and eight additional tributaries in the canyon. The project had a strict timeline and needed to be completed before the end of summer. Contech began the project in early June and completed the installation in early August. To withstand the mines estimated life of nine years, the channel was lined with articulating concrete blocks (ACB) to ensure the diversion would hold until the channel is restored to its natural state.

  • Haul Roads, Tank Trails and Heavy Equipment Paths

Contech offers a wide variety of products that make construction easier, including soil stabilization, concrete pads, bridges and drainage solutions. Contech was hired to oversee the installation of a 12,000-foot haul road project located at a coal mine site. Since the operation ran through a flood plain, Contech chose to use a coated corrugated metal pipe (CMP) for the project to provide the mine site with the most durable and economically sound solution.

  • Tunnels, Portals and Enclosures

Contech designs structures that meet heavy duty requirements for industrial or mining sites. Rockydale Quarries Corporation consulted with Contech to design and build a surge tunnel to expand Staunton Lime plant. Contech reviewed the project and provided a full project design, materials and recommendations for the erection and assembly of the expansion.
