Dana Bennett, PhD, President of the Nevada Mining Association (NMA), is the 2019 Chair of the Nevada Women’s Fund Woman of Achievement luncheon. She received her PhD in history, with a dissertation on the intersection between women legislators and tax policy development in Nevada before 1960.

“It is an honor to chair the Salute to Women of Achievement luncheon this year,” said Bennett. “This year’s theme of Lift You Up is so appropriate given the inspiring story of our keynote speaker as well as our honorees. Our Salute to Women of Achievement event is a wonderful way for organizations to honor one of their own and at the same time support the good work of the Nevada Women’s Fund.”

Honorees of the Women of Achievement Luncheon will participate in a morning of professional development followed by the recognition luncheon. The theme for this year’s event is Lift You Up and will be an uplifting day to celebrate leadership, accomplishment and service to our community.

This year’s keynote speaker for the Salute to Women of Achievement luncheon is Ieshia Champs, J.D. Ieshia and her family truly have an uplifting story. Facing a barrage of obstacles that would test the determination of anyone, her journey is one that highlights the importance of lifting others for the upward mobility of self, family, professional, and civic engagement. Ieshia went from having no high school diploma to becoming a lawyer in nine years, all while raising five children as a single mother. Her story will surely lift you up.
